The Chalcolithic Period

The Chalcolithic period is defined mainly by the material culture of the Ghassulian Culture, centered in the site of Tulaylat al-Ghassul, located in the Jordan valley near the dead sea. It is dated to ca. 4500-3500 BCE.
Several Chalcolithic settelments in the southern Levant became the great mounds of later periods.
