Red Burnished Ware

The Red Burnished Ware is one of the pottery groups that characterizes the Early Bronze Age IB. The red slip was applied onto the vessel and burnished. The majority of Red Slip pottery are small and were probably meant to be used as ornament. These wares are often found in tombs as burial offerings. Red Burnished ware were found in many of the Early Bronze Age sites of the Southern Levant such as Megiddo, Tell el-Far'ah, the Asawir tomb, and Tell Ayadiya.
