Almond shaped oil lamps were the most common oil lamps of the Early Islamic Period. They first appear during the Umayyad period and continue to the Abbasid and Faimid periods. These oil lamps were mould-made, with simple floral or geometric decorations. The nozzle is elongated with a channel. The early lamps have a conical handle which later turns into a tongue-shaped handle.
