The Hellenistic Period

The Hellenistic period is dated between 332-63 BCE. It begins with Alexander the Great's conquest of the Southern Levant and end with entrance of the Roman empire into the scene. The Hellenistic period in the Holy Land can be subdivided into three periods according to rule:

    Ptolemy 332-175  BCE
    Selevcus 175-164 BCE
    Hashmonian 163-63 BCE
