The Persian Period

The Persian period is dated between 586 - 332 BCE, from the seizing of Babylon and its empire by the Achemenids until the conquest of the Levant by Alexander the great. The Persian empire, the greatest empire seen until then, brought some significant changes to the southern Levant such as the return of the exiled Judeans to their land and the expansion of the Phoenician influence and material culture along the southern Levantine coast.
